KENNEBUNK – A Kennebunk chiropractor whose license was suspended following charges of sexual misconduct with patients, plans to reopen his office as soon as possible, his lawyer said last week.

Chiropractor Clifford L. Faldman’s license to practice was reactivated on Aug. 27 following 210 days of suspension stemming from charges of sexual misconduct with patients. He also faces additional charges both by local police and state licensing officials.

Last week, Faldman’s lawyer, James Martemucci, entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf in Biddeford District Court to his June 2 charges of violating a protection order.

“He (Faldman) adamantly denies these allegations,” Martemucci said. “He didn’t do anything criminal or inappropriate.”

Police charged Faldman after receiving a complaint in reference to his behavior.

Martemucci said the complaint involved Faldman’s accountant calling a woman who rents a Kennebunk home owned by the chiropractor, and requesting one of Faldman’s cars.

The woman, Martemucci said, filed the complaint, saying that the accountant contacting her violated the order of protection.

“This allegation has nothing to do with the chiropractic business,” Martemucci said. In fact, he said, Faldman told him he planned to reopen his business as soon as possible.

Faldman, 55, has a history of complaints against him by patients.

His chiropractic license was suspended for 180 days, plus an additional 30 days earlier this year, said Doug Dunbar, from the Maine State Office of Licensing and Registration.

According to Dunbar, while Faldman’s license is currently active, that could change.

“Two more complaints were received during the 180-day suspension,” he said.

A hearing on those complaints is scheduled for later this month. “Additional disciplinary action may or may not be taken at that time.”

One of those complaints, Martemucci said, is from the same woman who reported the violation of the order of protection.

Faldman, who gives his current address as Old Orchard Beach, maintained a practice at 62 Portland Road in Kennebunk.

A former captain with the fire department, he was charged with sexual misconduct with patients during 2004 and 2005.
