A Jefferson City chiropractor is facing one count of theft and nine counts of making false statements or concealing information for allegedly double-billing the Department of Labor and Industries in the state of Washington, where he had a practice.

Court officials confirmed the case against Marc A. Ferrin who is scheduled to go to trial next May.

According to the Sequim Gazette, Ferrin owned two chiropractic centers in Washington and moved to Jefferson City last spring where he operates JC Chiropractic.

A 20-page affidavit alleges Ferrin double-billed L&I between July 2007 and April 2008. It says Ferrin stole more than $1,500 -- which qualifies as first-degree theft -- and details nine patients from whom Ferrin took money, then also billed Labor and Industries.
