LIBERTY — A prominent Sullivan County chiropractor was arraigned Thursday on a charge he sexually abused a 42-year-old female client.

Jorge Delgado, 47, of Bloomingburg, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor.

State police Senior Investigator Mike Orrego says the woman told investigators that on Feb. 11, Delgado touched her on the buttocks during an office visit.

"As of right now, we are investigating one incident," Orrego said.

Delgado, the local president of the New York State Chiropractic Association, has an office in Liberty. He appeared before Liberty Town Justice Brian Rourke with attorney Tom Cragan of Shawn Law Offices.

Delgado agreed to sign a temporary order of protection, forbidding any contact with the victim. He was released without bail.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in county jail.

His next scheduled court appearance is April 16.

Attorney Henri Shawn, who will be representing Delgado at future court appearances, denied the charges.
