Chiropractor Jason Ebelsheiser, 33, will continue to see patients, just not in the same way.

After being charged with five counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of tampering with records Monday, Ebelsheiser became the subject of an emergency adjudicative order Thursday.

The order states Ebelsheiser “poses and immediate threat the public health, safety, or welfare.”

According to the order, Ebelsheiser is barred from performing certain “soft tissue” treatments.

Ebelsheiser must also have a non-family member, adult female chaperone present at all times when treating female patients.

Copies of the order must also be given to each employee at Ebelsheiser’s practice, as well as any female patient prior to treatment there.

The Iowa Board of Chiropractic’s order states Ebelsheiser’s accusers include female patients ranging in age from 17 to 26. Mahaska County District Court documents state the incidents in 2007 and 2008.

Ebelsheiser’s third-degree sexual abuse charges are Class “C” felonies, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, along with a fine. His tampering with records charge is an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by up to two years in prison, along with a fine.
