Lexington, SC (WLTX) - A chiropractor has been arrested on charges that he assaulted two female patients.

Ronald Jeffrey Shows, 51, is accused of inappropriately touching two women during treatment. One of the alleged incidents happened on March 1st, and the other in December of last year, but was not reported to police until last week.

Shows is being charged with two counts of assault and battery of the third degree. If convicted, that's a maximum sentence of 3 years and $2,500 fine.

"They felt like something wasn't right, they were very uncomfortable and started asking questions, is this normal practice for a chiropractor," said Lexington County Sheriff James Metts. "He instructed the ladies to take all of their clothing off except their underpanties and to put on a hospital gown."

Sheriff Metts says the two victims, a 23 year old woman and a 35 year old woman, were asked to roll over on their back on an examination table when Dr. Shows pulled off their hospital gown.

"Then he began touching their private parts in an inappropriate way that is not acceptable practice we understand for chiropractors to do," said Metts

News19's Nate Stewart caught up with Dr. Shows after being released on bond outside the Lexington County Jail. "Dr. Shows, I'm Nate Stewart with News 19 WLTX, what do you have to say about the allegations that you touched your victims in your doctors office? 'No Comment sir.' Did you touch the victims in your doctors office? (No response) Do you have anything to say to the victims that you have alledgely violated? 'No comment sir, please let me go."

Shows was released on a $30,000 bond. Outside his chiropractor office reads a sign, "will be closed Wednesday March 9th". The Lexington County Sheriff's office is concerned this may have happened to more than two women.
