Insurance costs for chiropractors won't dropPublished: 2009-06-17 17:12:17Author: Jordan Schrader | Asheville Citizen-Times | May 14, 2009Raleigh — State lawmakers won't move to make it cheaper for most North Carolinians to see a chiropractor.
Chiropractors want the state to ban insurance companies from charging
higher co-pays to patients of chiropractors than those who go to
general practioners.
But the state chiropractors association has
asked Rep. Cullie Tarleton to pull his proposed legislation, Tarleton
said. By missing a deadline of today to advance, it is unlikely to
become law this year.
Tarleton, D-Watauga, said the group was unhappy with the bill that emerged last week from the House Insurance Committee.
The committee called for insurers to charge no more for visits to
chiropractors, physical therapists and occupational therapists than
state employees and retirees pay under state insurance.
